Today we headed for the capital of Illinois - Springfield. It's all about Abraham Lincoln here and a bit of a Route 66. We arrived just on lunch and decided to try the Springfield Route 66 icon - Cozy Dogs, the original corn dog (Pluto pup). The inventors family members still run the restaurant. ... food stop opened in 1946, the Gemini Giant at Wilmington, two brilliantly restored gas stations and a maple sirup (correct sp!) shop which marked the halfway point in Illinois.

200 miles took nearly 6 hours due to regular photo ops and diversions. We arrived in the State Capital exhausted but elated. We also visited the Lincoln Tomb. There were non-stop guests entering and leaving the tomb.
