    We unloaded our bikes and rode inland where we found Independence Square which is a six block L shaped park containing many of the most historic buildings in America…a few old brick buildings from mid 1700s including Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence (1776) and then the Constitution (1782?) were hashed out and then signed.     ... the Airtrain into JFK. By missing the rush hour traffic, we made this journey quite quick and stress-free. Happily, Virgin Atlantic were willing to put us on an earlier flight out of JFK, landing at the crack of dawn in Heathrow. It was a swift flight aided by strong following winds and, despite a delayed departure out of JFK, we landed at Heathrow at 6:30, ready to face the rigours of the M25 and M40. Home by 10:30 a.m.

    ... and through food markets including Chelsea Market, and left us to have lunch.
    We then went to Ground Zero! Words can't describe! It was crowded with silent people all searching the 3000 names and reading the testaments posted by others and then seeing the two huge water features which outline the twin towers bases. So beautifully done! Revisited Cafe Luncheonette so Rick could see if the meat balls were as good as he had remembered ...

    ... Me? Never. At 11 am we went to pick up the rental car at Avis just down the street. The people there couldn't be nicer and we were even upgraded to a bigger SUV! I must say, I will refute the 1.5 star review they have on Yelp. Though the process took much longer than expected, we got the car and proceeded to spend the rest of the afternoon buying a kennel for the monster and shipping things to Mark's parents. ...
