Travelled back up the hwy to get a campsite and stopped in Woodstock. Right on the river was this motel/ campsite so we snagged it for the night.

It is hard to imagine that here in Canada there are children raised speaking only French...even some who have gone to University to become a scientist and speak very little English like this man, about 30. We have been told that many Quebecers can actually speak very good English but choose not to do so in order to help preserve their language in Canada.

We decided to go on a road trip to New England and were planning to head to Salem, MA. We thought that if we drove up to New Brunswick to Woodstock and crossed the border at Houlton and drove down the I95 to get there, it would be faster than to go via the old Route 1 and Bangor. It might have been faster, but it was a kind of a boring drive really. We broke our trip into two legs, staying overnight in a Howard Johnson at Woodstock near the border crossing. ... the "super-fast, I'm from New England, let's go 85" one. Made it to Houlton, Maine by 1700 hours, our original arrival time. No lunch stop today! And overcast, but no rain, thankfully.
Nice scenery, but it whizzed by really fast!
