      The Mississippi Gulf Coast has 62 miles of scenic shoreline. We drove most of the way in to Mississippi on I-10 but dropped down to the Gulf Coast Highway at Gulfport. Two lanes with lots of stoplights, but the most beautiful white sand beaches I have ever seen. All 27 miles of them. It was difficult to drive the motor home in the narrow lanes and maneuver around parked cars but so worth it for the view.

      ... nice area but it seems it's always been the poor black neighbourhood. We left New Orleans on highway 10 but then went on to the smaller 90 nearer the coast, unfortunately we joined just after Waveland which we discovered later was pretty much wiped out by Katrina and still recovering.
