Mealy in the Mist
We arrive at a very raining Buffalo on Friday 19th October at 11.55pm after our looooong train journey. It's absolutely ******* it down. Standard. Everywhere we go it rains! We aren't unable to check into our hostel downtown until 4pm and it doesn't open till 8am so we spend the next 8 hours sitting in this empty waiting room. It kinda feels like we are in a padded cell! Niagra on the Lake - a magical day

So WOW - first night not sleeping in the van - a quaint B&B ... wine tasting - this is the world of ice wine - makes sense when you think of it and location - had a lucious lunch at one winery and then visited 3 others - then checked into B&B and went for an 11 mile bike ride and saw historic forts - then a SHOWER and delicious dinner and then went to the play The Millionairess by George ...

... sweet! I would thoroughly recommend the tour, which was by Chariots of Fire. We had planned to have a steak dinner downtown so, as the rain was bucketing it down, it didn't make much sense to brave a return journey so we just ducked into the Eaton Centre which was over the road and checked out the stores over its 4 floors. I bought some shoes and then, the rain having died down a little, we set off for dinner which we had at The Keg.

Thursday, October 6th
We got up today and drove down towards the falls again. We wanted to head to the White Water Walk, which opened at 10am. We got there and were able to park in a free lot across the street from the entrance. An elevator takes you down to a boardwalk that goes along the edge of the water. Before you get out to the boardwalk there were boards describing all the people who have tried to ride the rapids in barrels, or swim ...
Overnight with a view
I must admit I didn't spend much time in Buffalo, as it was just a place where we spent the night during our weekend at the Niagara Falls. The Hotel was great anyway: probably one of the best beds I've ever slept in! It's not in the town centre (closer to Lake Erie) but from the windows, I got a great view of the town. Great value for your money!
