We took a turn round the botanic garden and in the Canterbury museum to see Fred and Myrtle's front room from their home, decorated with Paua shells and a shrine to Kiwi kitsch Kiwiana. There was also T-Shirts Unfolding, a celebration of the T-shirt, with a huge collection of display, together with history and quirky facts such as a cotton T shirt was regulation ...

Around lunchtime I was getting pretty hungry so I decided to make that foray out to the Pak'N'Save, a good thirty minutes walk from the hostel. It is exactly 2 weeks since we landed here and had a quick look around but we were jet lagged and very hot and tired then so this time we were ready for a full day sightseeing. We were also closer to the city centre so not as far to walk in the full sun. We ...

... you leave Picton on the road to Blenheim the Marlborough Ranges loom large – the start of the big mountains, the Southern Alps. We parked up in the big paddock with the Totara trees with the Tui's zooming from tree to tree, calling, squawking, croaking, coughing and generally being argumentative. We got chatting to Les Henson who has lived on the property since 1943...! He regaled us with tales of the lady from a motorhome who went up to the payment box, fiddled around a ...
