... were lots tourist attractions to choose from but we didn't have much time, so we went on a 20 minute bus ride out of the city centre to the gondola in Lyttleton. On the way, school children hopped on and off the bus, always saying thank you to the bus driver and calling him 'Sir'.

Our last stop in New Zealand was Christchurch, which had once been the country's second most populous city (after Auckland). Now we go for a walk around the park. Magnificent trees and plants. Giant redwoods no less! A half hour round the Christchurch museum is not enough! This is a great place. Had a race round on ...

... botanical gardens. The museum was great, but we were dragging (again, would love to elaborate but too tired right now). On the walk back to the hotel we enjoyed reading the labels on all of the beautiful plants in the gardens. There are absolutely ancient, gigantic and towering trees which we passed and sometimes took shelter under. One thing I've forgotten to mention is that all of this walking was with a great deal of wind. Awesome amounts ...

... incredible! We arrived at the look out which provided a great view of Mt Cook. Mt Cook is New Zealand's tallest mountain and stands over 3000m above sea level. A familiar theme, the mountain was named after our very own Captain James Cook, quite a legend this chap! During the evening we cooked ourselves some dinner and spent time in the bar before calling it a night. However after an hour or so we were awoken by the most horrendous sound, firstly ...
