The Christmas presents are all wrapped so now it’s just getting through the next few weeks. We have the statutory days off and are working through the rest.       On our final leg we headed to Timaru, on the east coast, to look at some rocks a bit like the Giants Causeway basalt columns (not as impressive).       ... down here – yesterday I was sitting outside a café across the park from our flat, babysitting Tony and Warren’s dog while they were in Auckland – it was a good rolling jolt. So that was very considerate of Christchurch to try and initiate the Aucklanders.

      ... lives in the devastation caused by the earthquakes.It was a quick turn around after we returned home, having a quick wash and change of clothes before heading back out to celebrate Lin’s birthday at a lovely Chinese restaurant. We all tucked into a delicious banquet and had a lovely family meal. It has been so nice that we have been made to feel so welcome and have been included in these special family events during our stay. These memories will stay with us forever.

      Trevor and Pat have kindly offered to be our guides for the next two days. They have planned some places of interest for us all to visit. It has been nice to have this, as I feel we get to see less touristy places and more of where the ‘locals’ may visit.We arranged to meet at their house, all 3 acres of it.
