... outside temperature was right at 90 degrees---not good for a fat boy to be hiking in such weather. Checked in at the visitor office and got our free pass since we have 'senior cards'---one more time being old ain't so bad. Those 'senior cards, we got when we turned 62 have more than paid for themselves in park admission passes over the last few years.

... 150 miles into the day's trip i pulled in to get some gas and use the bathroom. walking back to the bike I gave it a quick once over i saw that I had a flat tire! good thing this is all happening in the USA and i still have a cellphone. ... on a beach, had a cool pier and was close to some pretty nasty natural hot springs that we went to the next day. Sarah didn't quite make it into the feral water - I don't blame her.. but it was pretty nice when you were in there (if you excused the floaties) and the relaxing sound of swarms of wasps was great!
For our last night we went to Santa Barbara and spent the night in a hostel room. Was pretty good to have a bed and power again! ...

... noticed it may have a limit of only 8hours. We decided to play it safe and drove to San Miguel to see if they had a McDonalds. Fat chance! Instead, we pulled up in a lay-by and watched the movie, The Sorcerer's Apprentice with Nicolas Cage. We then returned to the south side rest area and parked up. We were soon tucked up in bed, this time with thermals on, for the last time, (for a little while anyway), in Brian.
