      ... is less than the cost of hiring a GPS for the same period! Fortunately, the GPS on the phone is very efficient and we can navigate out of SF quite easily- this is possibly the only good part of it being a Labour Day Weekend, all the natives have abandoned the city- I think they may have all decided to drive the Big Sur with us!

      ... and then climb up along the side of a couple of cliffs. A little bit of a lot in just under 3 miles. Much fun. Talus caves are not true caves. They are created when boulders crash onto narrow canyons, forming a roof. The park has two, home to several species of bats. I would not mind coming back in cooler weather for 2 or 3 days of hiking.       ... late and all of the spots where you could stop along the road were taken. Can't write too much. Don't want to lose battery Long ride 200 miles. Ended up in hammock next to some polish kids.       ... outside temperature was right at 90 degrees---not good for a fat boy to be hiking in such weather. Checked in at the visitor office and got our free pass since we have 'senior cards'---one more time being old ain't so bad.       ... She told us to turn right when she really meant left but we managed to get on the trail. It takes off across the street from the Lodge and heads up the hill. It is joined by the Vista Point trail and then they split after you reach the top. Part of the waterfall trail has been moved because of the fire in 2009 (I believe).
