The first place we stopped was to visit the Worlds Largest Totem Pole which was nice, in the summer we imagine it would be a great place for picnics.     ... road that give a flavour of what it must have been like 80 years ago leaving the dust bowl behind for better days on the west coast. Crossing the interstate once again I drove through Bristow and then took a loop through Depew which has kept the original concreted of 66 along its Main Street.     Left home about 5:45. Flight from OKC at 9:15. Arrived O'Hare 11:15. The international terminal is a totally different building so we had to go out of security, ride a tram to the international terminal and go back through security so that took awhile. Everything else was smooth. Talked to a girl while waiting at the gate who lives in Dublin and had been visiting ...

    Very uneventful drive today, besides a deluge of rain as we entered Oklahoma. In about 2 minutes the temp dropped from 66 to 51 and the rain came down in buckets. One event that could be considered as almost catastrophic. Almost ...

    ... between two mountain ranges: the Boston Mountains, and the Ouachita Mountains. We drove by Carrie Underwood's home town, a small town not too far from the Arkansas border.

    Just before we stopped for the day, we drove into Henryetta to buy a few groceries at WalMart. We drove the length of Main Street, about one mile long. The street was lined with dilapidated store fronts. If this is typical then small town Oklahoma is in trouble.
