... started riding down 5th Avenue in amongst the population of Manhattan. As a rider it was scary and as a parent it was negligent. Hoots of horns, me shouting, Ben turning around and then me shouting again to look ahead!! We made it safe and sound. Probably not a thing that I would do again.

... Pier" to get a picture of the main house of the compound. It is our understanding that the six acres is still occupied by all the families of John, Bobby and Edward. We also went to the John F. Kennedy Memorial that overlooks the bay.It is located in Veterans' Park. There is also a Korean War Veterans Memorial there and Ellen's dad was on a ship during the Korean War so that was interesting. Very beautiful ...

Another evening, we timed the tides to go from Ridge Vale beach to the lighthouse near Hardings Beach. I wish I had not been so concerned about getting wet. It was too cold to have our bathing suits on and we had hiked up our pants way above our knees. The water was clearly still going out to sea and it was beautiful to see. Athena had to look for ripples in the water so we could go throught the shallowest areas. ...
