... away was Hamilon, Mo which was home to JC Penny and the next town of Cameron which was home to Walter Cronkite. Many celebrities seem to have started their early life along 36 Hwy in Mossouri. Crossing into Kansas we got on the Pony Express Hwy. We made it to Maryville, KS where we found a place to lay our heads.. The Surf Inn. Dinner at Penny's Diner was awesome! We're hitting the road today from Kansas to Colorado for day 4 of straight highway driving. Our campsite in the middle of the woods in Ohio was beautiful but very remote. We are back on the road now and have about 30 minutes until we get to the hotel.
Leaving St. Louis mid-afternoon we drove the entire state of Missouri and stopped 125 miles into Kansas at Junction City for the night. Nearby was Fort Riley army base (but we were pooped after driving so we didn't see it!). The town was very ...
