Very punny huh?
At first light, we filled our water jugs, had some Malt-o-Meal (first-timer) and headed south toward Montrose. We picked up some Haystack Mountain Goat Cheese (Shout out to Boulder, CO goats), batteries for my head lamp and an apple and ran over to the library. The countryside near Black Canyon there south of Delta makes you feel like you're on earth. Your surroundings are so obvious and exposed. ... as we passed I could tell that the deer had been hit and the deer had come up over the hood and into the front window! Sure glad it wasn't us. By the way, (sorry back home once again) it was 55 degrees at the top of the pass! It is a hard life, but someone has to live it! Also there was still a little snow there.
As we crossed the pass we were struck by the quick change in vegetation. Coming up the pass, the areas were very green and lush. Soon after we started down ...
