... the magnificent sand dunes of the Namib Desert, and the lions and leopards we saw up close at Etosha. We probably could have done without the dirt roads and flat tires, but I guess it just adds to the sense of adventure…”;
Michael – China/Hong Kong…“I loved seeing the Giant Pandas, and eating Indian food in that really old and dirty Hong Kong building [also known as the place we were staying]. It was great to go to ...

DAY 5: today was hiking day. only because smoky mountain hiking had
made me addicted to it. going from 20 miles hiking in a week to no
hiking has undesirable
effects.i.e. even thought i had been playing sports for the past
days continuously i felt so sluggish and lazy. like more then usual. so
we went hiking
out on the rained out trail near the area. a better way to
visualize this area is a) nothing like smokey mountain because it wasnt ...

Is there anything better to waking up to the lake? I love the cottage. It’s a perfect day here today the sun is shining there is a nice breeze and it’s quiet. No one is up here yet except us and Ted so it’s super relaxing. We’re going to head into town to get some groceries because we couldn’t be bothered to stop in the middle of the night. Then I plan on spending the rest of my day lounging ...
The next day was much brighter but we couldn't spend another day looking at some water when there's other water to be seen. We drove up to Huntsville but there's nowt there other than somewhere to sleep on the Westside of Algonquin Provincial Park. We were promised wildlife and we managed to see a Moose backside and that was pretty much our lot. We did a loop walk to Bat Lake which meanders ...
Maynooth, Ontario, Canada paulleck1975Drive up was great. Get there. Wait for the switch over to afternoon ski time at 1230. Tighten the boots. Click into the skis. Push off towards the chairlift... the binding broke off one ski!! Bummer! A long summer must have been tiring on those poor old skis ...
Calabogie, Ontario, Canada lolly... s oddly enough...) and met up with Kyle's brother Kurt and his girlfriend Chantelle for a few drinks. Good times to be had! The next day was given over to lunch with the family matriarch, the infamous Nanny, whom I had heard quite a lot about and was nervous to meet. She turned out to be a very kindly old lady with some great stories, albeit adamant that she was never going to see me again. To this day I'm not sure if that was to do with her age or my total ...
Orillia, Ontario, Canada alicecrabtree... something had taken a number 2 nest to our tent. It looked like dog poo, but was purely fur. We are a little unsure what it may have been, but there are no coyotes in the park! Once breakfast was taken care of, we canoed out of the camp another 6 miles through a second lake to our pick up point. It was a fantastic adventure, and if you're coming to this area we can highly recommend it. Had a good nights sleep last ...
Maynooth, Ontario, Canada danandlucy... the humidity. On the way back, we picked up some groceries at a chain grocery called Loeb's, and the rain held off just long enough for us to enjoy veggie dogs and baked beans at the campsite. The entrance to the tent and the ground cloth are now quite wet and muddy from going in and out, so I'm hoping the rain will stop long enough for it to dry before we move on in a couple days....the forecast doesn't look encouraging.
Fitzroy Harbor, Ontario, Canada beginthejourney... occur certain days, and this is the first one we've been able to hit. We also went to our first Tim Horton's, which are on every corner in Ontario, which was a fine, if unexciting experience. The "low carb" and healthy craze has definitely made its way up here, as most places offer healthier alternatives like wheat bread and side salads. The scenery got more wooded ...
