... National Forest. We climbed fairly steadily along this route through mostly forested areas. The drive was not the typical mountain road with curves and tight turns. It was one of the easiest mountain roads we have ever driven on. It was beautiful but the skies were looking pretty dark to the east. We really didn’t care if it rained or not since we figured that this was pretty much a driving excursion. Cheryl did wonder if we made a mistake ...

As they pulled out from the driveway last night, I wanted to cry. While I'm excited to make our way cross country there's another part of me that wants to stay home. Once again FaceTime will have to get us through!

We're headed back to the casa tomorrow and will be there just long enough to repack and hit the road by Monday afternoon. Sure gonna miss the cool pines of northern AZ.

We basically spent Tuesday getting settled into our "home away home". As I mentioned, this cabin is really awesome compared to the others we've rented up on the rim. The downstairs living room has a bar, pool table, air hockey, Wii with big screen TV and a Deer Hunter video game machine. The back porch is very inviting and has a swing the kids (big and little) absolutely love. Mornings and evenings ...
