The hottest place on earth is Death Valley in California. This may seem odd at first despite being in the dessert but California itself is the most populous state in the USA and is also the richest. there are other places on Earth that are better known for being hotter - most of Africa f'rinstance is well known as quite the little hotspot. But …

... They looked like they had been empty for quite some time.
Just before we entered Death Valley National Park we came across road work signs. One even saying to expect delays up to 20 mins!!! Really?? Where the temp was 100F?? They were resealing a section of the road but fortunately we only had a minute or two wait. Then there was a special truck in front that was our 'Pilot Car' with the sign 'Follow Me'. Sure does make sure you keep to the speed limit.

Dave managed to keep the car on the road in the 100mph cross winds ...

... gusts broadside that really got the trailer rocking. As I had been told, I tapped the trailer brake to stopped the sway then backed off the gas. When we made the turn onto Route 160, the storms began in earnest. Sheet lightning lit up the sky, and it began raining like a cow ******* on a flat rock. Gusts of wind whipped the rain so hard that visibility dropped to less than a quarter mile. I dropped my speed back to 35 MPH and focused on following the ...

... different hues. Back to the resort to pack up and head towards Las Vegas and Kingman. On the way we stopped at Zabriskie Point and Dante's View. Zabriskie Point is a series of Borax Hills. Really beautiful. Dante's View allows you to see both the highest and lowest points of the 48 States at the same time. The back on the road for a long drive to Kingman Arizona. We actually went through 3 States today - California, Nevada and ...
