Tips for Traveling to Ireland and UK

A travel blog entry by spunkandatrunk on Sep 19, 2015

To summarize a few travel tips we learned from our experience in Ireland and UK: The weather can be cold, we visited in September and it was colder than we expected. I also had gloves and ear warmers which were helpful for our boat trip to Michael Skellig and for walking at night. Definitely bring a rain jacket and an umbrella, it will rain. Trench coats are popular ...

Well, whatever you want to call it we are packed and ready for our Ireland / UK trip! Its hard to believe with all the beautiful weather we’ve had this week here in West Michigan that we are packing jumpers (sweaters) and wellies (boots) for our vacation. All our warm clobber (clothes) are packed in our rucksacks (backpacks) including our macs (rain jackets), trousers (pants), jim-jams (pajamas), knickers (underpants), and ...

... best to fly (considering time and cost) and in our case that is what we chose to do. In country flights like most of Europe are very reasonable. With our itinerary we will be flying out of Cork to Glascow, and then taking a train one hour east to Edinburgh. For whatever reason it was cheaper for us to fly into Glascow than Edinburgh from Cork. Flying out of Dublin was more economical overall however that would have required another 3 ...
