Shilo Inn & Suites - Salmon Creek/Vancouver

Another rainy day in Victoria, but also the day I leave for home. Check out was 11:00 am and although my flight wasn't scheduled to leave until 2:25 pm I went ahead and called a taxi and was at the tiny little Victoria International airport by 11:40 am. Soooo early! There wasn't even anyone at the check-in desk for Horizon Air (a partner of Delta …

Tailgating - Well, there was tailgating. And they allow beer. That's the most that can be said for it. There were well fewer than 100 people actually tailgating. One friendly fellow did walk around and invite everybody over to his spot, though, to make one large tailgate. I suspect it could be fun if you went to all the home games. Rating: 2 ...
... most accurate description available. Forget the city of roses, this is the city of greens; my favourite being the bright glowing lime-green leaves which caught the sun and created a natural sky-light for the streets. Green wasn't just in the trees though, it appeared everywhere: on statues, references made about men and beer alike, and it just seemed to be the colour on everyone's minds.
To be honest though, green is not the only colour that caught ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Shilo Inn & Suites - Salmon Creek/Vancouver
Here we are again...at our favorite Host Hotel for the Body Building Comp.
Just want everyone to know...The Staff at this Hotel are GREAT...even more, they go that extra mile!
Love the cold water in the rooms! Nice touch!
How can you say Greater than Great! Well, this place certainly is!
We found the rooms to be large and clean, the pool to be crystal clear, the breakfast was good and the people who work there treated us like family.
What more could we want?
I have been staying at the Hazel Dell Shilo on a long term basis and I have had the opportunity to see the staff in action. I find them to be extremely helpful and the atmosphere very friendly. They have a pool with a 7 foot deep end which is nice for the kids as well as the adults. You don't have to stoop down to get your head wet. They also have a sauna and a steam room, both are very enjoyable. The hotel isn't the newest but it is well maintained and the maintenance staff are very attentive. There are several fast food resturants nearby and a sitdown steak house adjacent to the hotel. There is a Safeway and other stores within walking distance. Fred Meyers is just down the road on 134th St. They are very competitive with their rates and by their occupancy I would say many others agree with me that this is a great place to stay while passing through or for a longer stay. It has great access to I5 and I205. And did I mention the breakfast beyond just cereal, oatmeal, toast, and pastries now includes biscuits and gravy?
What a PLACE!
This may not be a new motel, but let me tell you, this place is GREAT!
The rooms are large and clean. The pool is awesome...nice and deep! You just don't find deep pools anymore! The front desk staff are WONDERFUL, very accomodating and helpful. We even got to meet the manager. She is quite a lady.
This was my first trip to Vancouver, WA to help some friends move. We will certainly be back.
I was very pleased with my stay. All the staff was very friendly, and more than helpful. I would definately recommend this location to all my friends.
Very friendly and helpful service. Being new to the area, the receptionist, was very helpful about directing me to local family attractions.
Wonderful place to stay
The Shilo was very clean and neat. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great everything was fresh and looked very nice. The location is great, close to restaurants and stores. The indoor pool is one of the deepest we have found. The only negative is the need of new carpeting in the hallways.
I booked my families reservation based on the 2 previous positive reviews of this hotel. So we were surprised to be placed in a SMOKING room..when we requested NON-Smoking. Tried to get moved to another but nothing was available. Steam and Sauna rooms were out of order. And finally, the hotel is situated in between a grill/bar and a Taco Bell, so while you're trying to air out your smoky room by opening the windows... you're kept awake by the local teen population who hang out all night in the parking lots of these joints:honking horns, racing engines, squealing tires and conversing until 5 am.
Better than expected
Stayed there once and was surprised by the friendly staff and the very calm neighborhood.
During the next trip, I stayed at the Portland Marriott which was incredibly noisy, 3 times as expensive and not that nice. Also I had to pay $21 for 24 hours parking.
The Shillo Inn is now my place of stay during my visits to Vancouver, WA. It's perfect for a business stay. It's walking distance from the great Fort Vancouver Officer Houses park (great for jogging) and just next to the I5 (without its nuisance).
Great place to stay in Vancouver Wa.
This is a great place to stay. The staff is friendly and helpful. A great pool, steam room and sauna. Good freeway access and reasonably close places to eat at.
