Historical Traveler Reviews Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel At Station Square
We spent 2 nights at the Sheraton Station Square hotel in May 2005. The location is excellent, right along the river with a great view of downtown Pittsburgh. The Monangahela Incline is right there. Bus and subway service are nearby, as well as the restaurants and shops at Station Square. Our seventh-floor room was large. We used the pool/health club facilities, which were clean and well-kept. The Lobby Bar was also a very nice place for a drink.
Just returned... this hotel is just beautiful. The rooms are awesome and bed is very comfortable. We had 3 days of meetings and they catered all the food. The quality of the catering was great, the food was very good.
This is the place to stay in Pittsburgh!
Recently in Pittsburgh, our stay at the Sheraton Station Square was better than we expected. The rooms were very nice with very comfortable beds & pillows. We had a great view of the river. The hotel bar was very nice as was the restaurant. This hotel is in a great location with lots of stores, restaurants & bars within walking distance. We came for the Steeler game & had a great time. The Sheraton van was always ready to take us into the city whenever we wanted. All in all, great hotel.
We stayed at the Sheraton Station Square in Sept for a reunion. Had a great room with a beautiful view. Even though there was rain and flooding in the area we felt totally safe in the hotel. Staff was very friendly and assuring. Reunion was great and the food was wonderful! Bar was great too. Close to alot of shopping and reataurants. Would definately stay there again!
its is a great hotel for bussiness trips of just a family vaction me and my friend stayed there for 2 weeks on a bussiness trip.and we really enjoyed it the tub is great along with the pool.and suanna in the womens and mens locker rooms the coffie shop is great and the resrunt down stairs is the best and has the best food
It was ok
The room was okay, but I expected better. I unfortunately did not receive a room with a view and I paid $32.00 to park for two days. Some of the staff members were nice, some were rude. I think you could do better.
GREAT WEEKEND GETAWAY
Staying at the Sheraton at Station Square in Pittsburgh was a great time. Our room was big, nicely decorated and the staff was so helpful. We could walk to the Incline for the best view of Pittsburgh, we could walk to duck tours, boats that had all kids of cruises, boats that took you to PNC ballpark for a baseball game. Within two blocks of the hotel you could dine at the Grand Concourse(one of Pittsburgh's best restaurant for seafood and steaks and desserts) Bucca de Beppa for family style dinners, and Hard Rock for the kids. They have a water ballet show every 20 minutes that is really neat at night with color lights. Numerous other Pittsburgh tours and plenty of bars and other eateries for the older crowd at night are located there. We parked our car on Thurs afternoon and didn't go back to it until Monday at noon when we left. It was so nice to be able to see all of Pittsburgh without getting into our car.
Great location in Pittsburgh
We stayed at the Sheraton Station Square on 3/26/04. the hotel is really nice, but the best part is the location right in Station Square, convenient to several eateries and shops. Although I didn't pay extra for a view, we had an excellent view of the river, station square and the city facing north. The only complaint I have is the water pressure in the bathroom is horrible. The pool area is really nice, although we didn't use it. Parking was $16 for 24 hours in the lot next to the hotel. Not cheap, but if you stay anywhere in the city, you'll have to pay for parking. We will stay again next time we are in Pittsburgh.
Not a bad place to stay in the Pitt
Stayed at the Sheraton Station Square for the good part of a month. On the whole, I would say it is a pretty good choice if you have to get stuck staying in the Pitt. I stayed in both a Sweet Sleeper room on the SPG floor (8th) facing the mountain and in a regular room facing the atrium. The Sweet Sleeper rooms are a little bigger with nicer desks and a nicer bathroom. Also, free water was replenished each day while in the regular room no water was to be found. SPG room looked newer but i think it was in the newer part of the building that was added on more recently. Regular room had a little bit of a rundown bathroom but still, room was nice. In addition, I think I received nightly turn down service with a chocalate as part of being recognized as SPG Gold as my coworker never received this treatment and they are not Gold.
Some people complain about the train that runs continually throughout the day and night. I'm a pretty deep sleeper so it never bugged me.
There is one that runs on either side of the hotel so city/mountain view doesn't really matter.
As SPG Gold, had access to club level lounge. Nice Continental in the morning with appetizers and free wine in the evening. They also give out free cookies and milk until 10:45 sun-thurs.
The Station Square has some restaurants and bars around there but no action during the weeknights. Fri/Sat is a different story and in addition, the Southside is about 2 miles down the road and they have a free shuttle that will take you down there.
Comfortable rooms, beautiful views
We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms with a river/city view.
Paying the extra dollars for a river view was worth every penny! Not only did we have an incredible view of the city from our huge floor-to-ceiling windows, but we had fun watching the Gateway Clipper fleet coming and going from their dock below us. True, there are train tracks running along the river... but we never heard the trains and slept soundly in an extremely comfortable bed. The room was very tastefully decorated and more than satisfactory; in fact, our only problem with the room was that for some reason there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom so it got a bit steamy in there when we showered. Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. We called housekeeping for extra pillows and they were knocking at our door within minutes. The pool / whirlpool area was very nice, and the bar in the lobby was a great place to relax with a drink and do some people watching. If you're in town over Thanksgiving, the Sheraton's Thanksgiving Buffet Dinner is just wonderful. We'd stay here again without question.

... Bodali, in India. They are in the small town of Beaver Falls near Pittsburgh. Excited about the prospect of seeing them again.
Our departure from Germantown was on a very wet morning and unfortunately things did not improve on the way north. The scenery was looking good but would have been even better were it not for the driving rain that lashed at us most of the day.
I keep reminding myself, this is travelling not always a holiday.
Today was again a pretty good start with a bit of a sleep in. Today we had planned to go to beaver falls, another place where my dad grew up, and see more houses there and spend the day in that town. When we got to beaver falls it seemed like a town with many units and it was like out of a TV show were every knows everyone. But it was a ...
... and eggs, so not a huge variety. We headed out in our car at about 10:30 to see some of the addresses that grandpa had left us. The first one we failed to find because the address wasn't there. We spent a good 25 minutes looking around for it. The second two were very close of each other with were easy to find as they are still ...
... we have already seen so many science museums on this trip. I was excited to go to the zoo because I hadn't been in forever. Every city (almost) has some form of zoo but I didn't think Jordan would want to go. After the Zoo we went to Primanti Brothers (a well known sandwich shop in Pittsburgh) to grab sandwiches for lunch. It was so good. Now we are our way to Shanksville to see the flight 93 ...
... The small roads were quite busy with big trucks which charged along paying no heed to the speed limits. Not a place to go for a quiet leisurely mosey.
Tom was charged with getting us into Pittsburgh without going through a toll. Again he managed well. Came in on SR 22 which joined the I 376. We arrived in Pittsburgh down town about 4 pm. Wes turned off the main street and went looking for somewhere to pull off. By chance he was at the back entrance to a ...
