Yueyang (Again)
We returned to Yueyang due to the 60-year flood of the Yangtze River. Viking River Cruises made some quick arrangements so we could tour the famous Yueyang Tower and the local marketplace.

The last time my daughter and I returned to Yueyang, it was December 1999 and we had just filed formal adoption papers in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province. The second step in the process back then was to file papers in my daughter's birth city, Yueyang. Was this city as beautiful then as it is today? Back then, I was so intensely focused on my new little daughter, that I remember little else.

... Got stuck in a traffic jam – almost stopped for 2 hours, felt like I was in Germany again, except everyone in the car was shouting at each other. About what I do not know. They were just talking about something. When we drove life was peaceful, but sitting still. Oh boy! Thank God I had my iPod with me, so glad the battery lasted. Had earache afterwards.
