... Had another day driving around the east of the island seeing the sights, best of which were Indian head, champagne pools and the old shipwreck. I chose to cook again, this time a huge spag bol which went down very well (hopefully it won't come up as well!). Joined a big party that was going on close to us and got speaking to a couple of Scottish neds from Kirkintilloch, the type of folk that meeting makes me glad that i don ...
Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia fruss... I met Sabrina, a Swiss girl, and Leon, a Canadian guy as I was loading into the pink 4X4 that picked me up from the bus stop to take me to the hostel. It's nice that these hostel's do pick ups from the bus stop saving travelers the hassle of walking all around an unfamiliar town with map in hand trying to find the place they will rest their weary heads. Also competition is fierce in popular backpacker destinations so hostels do all they can to get your business.

... be her Mum !! When we stayed with Abby, her friend Kym was definitely the flavour of the week and Lucy was attached to her for the whole 3 days. She said "who is that lady?" and when I said it was Kym she said "No - that's my Mummy!" (and Jav didnt have many objections to this new Mummy plan either I might add!). Then we met a family at the van park in Coffs Harbour and Lucy took a shine to the Mum and said "I need her to be my new Mum, Mummy !" - thanks a lot LJ !

En Magnetic Island tambien pudimos comprobar una de las grandes ironias
de Australia: miles de kilometros de playas preciosas, y en muchas de
ellas no te puedes banhar! Cuando la culpa no es de las medusas es de
los tiburones, o si no de algun tipo de alga toxica. En Airlie Beach,
justo delande de su gran playa, han ...
Saturday started with Birthday celebrations and then a big fry up to see us on our way. We left in our surprising luxurious hire car at midday and headed off to the unknown, well not exactly we had a 4 hour drive north to Hervey Bay with printed instructions. It was a fun road trip thou with lots of singing, radio flicking and a bit of ...
Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia karendixon... is amazing as no plant life should survive in sand but the whole island is covered in plants and trees!
After lunch we headed out to the beach, which is actually an official highway, to paddle in another freshwater creek and to see the remains of the Maheno shipwreck, a luxury liner which crashed in 1935 (no passengers or crew on board though).
We then headed back to the mainland after another busy day.
... the weekend) decided to go for a Wee behind this Magical tree not realizing that the other faces where round there and everyone was going to be walking round to look. His daughter Emily and Adam couldn't stop laughing for ages afterwards and she had such an infectious laugh that it just kept everyone giggling. From here we made up to a viewing point that was just absolutely beautiful. There is just a massive sea of sand and then a small pocket of water in the corner ...

A short drive from 1770 and we arrived in Hervey Bay, a small whale watching town with a few bars and restaurants. It just happens to be the main port of call to reach Fraser Island. We spent a day chilling out by the beach and scoffing fish and chips. We booked a tour to Fraser with a local agent for the following day so we snuck into a campsite for the night.
A nice early start at 6am to meet the tour bus ...
... boomerang’s trajectory was wildly unpredictable and several people were lucky to escape with their lives. Perhaps I’m part of the reason they subsequently built the protective fence for spectators.
After a brief stop in Hervey Bay, well known for its whale watching tours and even better known for the fact that Elle Macpherson’s sister Mimi runs one of the tour companies, we caught yet another ferry to yet another island. This time it ...
