So… the packing is just about done. Our suitcases are under 40lbs. and we’re allowed 50 so we should make it home OK. We have our apartment inspection tomorrow morning and then head to Hong Kong for the last stage of this amazing year of adventures! ...
... travel across to Sichuan to see some national parks and climb some mountains (and see the pandas OFC), before making my way into Yunnan via the Sichuan-Tibetan Highway. I'll be spending a lot of time at altitude which isn't my favourite, but the scenery will be rewarding. In Yunnan I'll be spending time in some ethnic minority villages and seeing some more beautiful scenery, hopefully the rice terraces, Lugu Lake and Tiger Leaping Gorge. But let's see what I can fit in!

Many of the younger staff prefer teaching abroad and have no desire to return home, at least for this stage of their lives. Certainly for the Americans, the money is much better than in the US and the health plan is a BIG bonus. ... go at the knock-off mall. Anything we buy will have to be small because we’re each leaving here with only 1 suitcase and a back pack! Carolyn, one of the teachers who started with us, wants to make the trip with us so she’ll know how to do it on her own. It’s a little sad for her because of the 8 of us who started new this year, only 3 are coming back. Such is life at an international school.
