... We were going to catch a quick bite in California Adventure, then head for Disneyland. Originally, we had Fast Passed for the World of Color Show, but they suggested you get there an hour before and stand to wait for the show. No thank you, so we passed on that.

We decided to go to Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier to make us stay awake, it certainly achieved that. We forgot that it was the middle of summer on a Saturday so the traffic was terrible and drivers here are complete nut cases. ... were now well into the Mojave Desert, gas was getting low so we pulled off to fill up at Ludlow and got a bit of a shock when we stopped at the gas station and got out of the car. Neither of us had noticed the outside temperature rising in our nicely air condition car and it was now up to 39 degrees, so it was like stepping out into a furnace oven. Soon after leaving Ludlow the temperature rose even further to 42 degrees at one point and at six o'clock ...

... to the rental car company, and OMG, the line to wait was enormous, 90 minutes later, we were served by a really friendly woman, we filled out the forms, and soon had our Chevy Equinox, for the driving part of our holiday.

LA freeways during rush hour, for those that have not experienced this, I would highly recommend it to your bucket ...
