    Well what an interesting day. Today was our last day in San Francisco and we had booked a hire car to drive to Long Beach with an overnight stop in Avila Beach. The car wasn't ready so we didn't get away until 11am. No stress.
    The plan was to hit the road and make a few stops along the way to look at recommended towns. This was the day I was looking forward to with stops in Monterey and Carmel.

It was basic in as much as breakfast was wrapped in plastic and came on paper plates, the wifi crashed after 30 minutes and you spent all night wondering if that noise was someone stealing your car.     ... grass galore and evidence of massive land slides and road washouts. We went through tunnels and over narrow bridges that were hundreds of feet above the sea. We also drove on roadways that hugged the cliffside and contained hairpin turns.

    I am glad we did it but I’m not anxious to do it again soon.
