This would be a great place to stay if it wasn't for the fog. it is only in summer. The room was comfortable and clean. Close to the beach and good value with a breakfast included in the price. Also close to Hearst Castle.

Best inn I've stayed in so far. Nothing fancy, but for the location it's got the best prize/value relation.
Clean rooms with a beatiful ocean sunset view. Big comfy beds. Breakfast offers the basics like toast, coffee and juice, though seating space is sparse.

... heading to Asuncion Ridge, a bed and breakfast. For the best part it was a pretty nice drive, although it was a bit slow as we drove on the private road to the house. On one corner, a stray long horned cow was blocking the road. As we have discovered, certain states in America have stand your ground self defence laws, which basically means if you are scared you can shoot someone and plead self defence. So we were scared, the cow wasn't moving, so I got out and shot ...

... an hour further north to Big Sur, CA. We stopped at the ranger station to pick up information about the area and park information. We found several state parks and a couple other campgrounds listed. Unfortunately the Big Sur State Park campground was already full - ugh. We drove to the next park, and found out that you have to hike in 1/4 of a mile to the campground - uh no. So we headed back south to investigate the other campgrounds, and found they wanted between $45 and $55 a ...

... Lion Point, and walk a loop including China Cove and Bird Island. This is barely a hike, more of a leisurely stroll and there is very little that is challenging. The scenery is spectacular, with huge waves dramatically crashing onto the rocks below, although with the heavy fog rolling in off the sea, it was quite an eerie landscape.

We eventually settled in Morro Bay to stay for the night. We found a hotel - Morro Crest Inn - and had a bit of a chill after a good few hours of driving. We watched TV for a ...
