Somewhat reluctantly we left the desert heading west to California. We drove along the Parker Valley hugging the Colorado River, over a hundred miles of lush, green hayfields on native reservation land including, of course, the usual casino. One interesting stop was the George Patton Museum. It explained in depth his role in WWII, delving into both the good and not so good aspects of his career.

... it try. Once the rain stick was dry, it made a wonderful sound.... somewhat LIKE rain... when tilted back and forth. Lily's was one of the most colorful and well-decorated rain sticks. She took her time working on the cover, even though one other little girl tried to get her to hurry up. The result was very nice.

... board the bus hungry & dry as a chip. SF airport seems like a city all by itself complete with its own multilayered motorways, 2 or 3 stops within the airport complex itself picking up passengers, then we were off. Clear sunny day so a great day to travel, SF huge & one city seemed to run into another, went via Marin city & San Rafael (I think) seemed to be lots of "San somethings". ... to explore the town and have a nice lunch. Ever since I saw Sonoma on The Bachelor when Ben was on it, as it was his home town I thought it looked so nice and it was! Sonoma is bigger than Healdsburg but has the same town square in it so they look similar. I walked around and looked at all the shops and also saw a heap of small wineries in town, including Ben's so it was the perfect first town to visit in wine country.

In the late afternoon we took a drive over to check out the Napa Elks Lodge in regard to their RV Parking opportunities, as we will need a place for next week, hopefully one that is a little less expensive than here.
