After this we travelled two miles to Plimoth rock where they had the Mayflower 2 that was built in Brixham in the seventies and sailed across to be based here. ... knowledge of the carvings would put them at risk of vandalism. (Lord knows, when I hear about ancient artifacts the first thing I think of is TNT.) There exists, bizarre stories about people, researchers, historians and scholars, being escorted by locals to the site blindfolded. But even those stories appear to be fading as time and storms weather people's memory and the very rocks they claim to be "sheltering."
