          From Winnemucca we drove up and over Austin Pass (7500 feet) on HWY 50, which was named the "Loneliest Road in America" by Life Magazine in July 1986.

          The drive from Tonopah to Las Vegas was beautiful. We drove through valleys, with amazing rock structures, snow capped mountains and joshua trees dotting the desert.

          ... of the Hoover Dam to give workers a place to live (at least that’s what they told us on the tour). We found our good friend McDonalds and attempted to get some blogs updated in the cool air conditioning.

          Our second day in Vegas, and, once again, we started the day with tea and hot chocolate in the room in the wee small hours. We had breakfast in the hotel, in the main buffet restaurant which was the typical enormous American affair with everything from bacon and eggs to full on steak, ham, pasta, and pizza.           ... barbecued steak with mashed potatoes and salad, followed by a freshly cooked Brownie/sugar bomb (or as mark called it, 'diabetes on a plate!') to get the kids all hyper before bed!!
