... we stayed here for a while chatting to Lea and getting information about New York in terms of what to see in such a short stay and bars around our hotel near Time Square. A desperate gamble
... NEW 53-seat flights opened to Germany. The only problem was that Dover was a two-hour drive away from us and the flight to Dover would probably get there too late for the 53-firm flights. We had no car of our own, the rental car shops were closed, and we couldn't find anyone in the terminal with a car, going to Dover, that had room.
Now the situation went from grim ...
Fewer seats
... done. Tonight was no exception. So, back to billeting we went. They were about out of rooms but we were able to score a Distinguished Visitor suite. Apparently, the General that was supposed to stay there was a no-show. Nice digs. I didn't mind paying the extra $8.00. Did I mention there's was a mini- bar? Two flights to England tomorrow and one to Germany. Wish us ...
A day of rain
... wikis told us that we could catch the bus outside the front gate and down the road a bit. We got to the bus stop with no trouble until... rain again. We managed to stay dry at the 7-11 until it came time for the bus and then I went out to watch for it.
The bus ride was interesting. Oh, I should mention that soon after we got on, the bus went TO THE BASE. Really, friendly military travel wiki? You couldn't have told us that we ...
From bad to worse
Once we got to McGuire, we went to check in at the passenger desk. Unfortunately, the 73-seat flight had been cancelled (****!) and only the 19-seat flight remained. Neither of these flights were listed on the web site so I was hoping that most people wouldn't know about them and we would be able to get on.
We started getting checked-in in order to be marked present when the counter agent started staring ...
