    FEMA class that Jamie and Jason attended. Flew from Knoxville to Dallas and then into Albuquerque.... Return flight was Albuquerque to Denver and then into Knoxville. A Federally funded 4 day FEMA class that teaches First Responders from all over the US about initial responses to terrorism attacks associated with Bombings.     ... with a smile. She let us know that the green chile last week was REALLY hot, but this week's was just right. To make sure to please, she brought some for us to taste...just in case we wanted it on the side. Long after we finished every crumb and drop of grease, she encouraged us to stay around and talk! Which, of course, we did.

    We all headed north on the back roads to Socorro. Florence and I stopped at a gift shop we'd been in before ...

    ... the meteorite was largely vaporized although some fragments have been found as much as two miles away in Canyon Diablo. the rock was shattered and the surface start of the desert was flipped and turned upside down. the explosion created a nuclear wind with wind speeds estimated as being up to 500 mph!! Sadly, we are unable to upload any images to either Facebook or this blog at the moment so you'll just have to take our word for it - stunning.

    After our long day of traveling and exploring, we headed off to bed, but not before both my mom and I ate our own individual cartons of ice cream that we purchased earlier. I inhaled a Ben and Jerry's concoction, and my mother gobbled up some Haagen daas treat of her own. I then rolled away to bed and drifted off to sleep dreaming about my future life here in the Southwest.
