... because there was not a lot of damage, but enough to stop traffic from driving by.
We finally drove into Pendleton around 7:30pm (a 7 1/2 hour drive for the day.) We decided to snack on our crackers, cheese and smoked salmon for dinner and watch a little TV. A glass of wine made it all perfect!
To sleep about 10pm.
May God Bless the imaginative people who designed the ways for water to provide us power.

Well, this should be our last night on the road. We're in Pendleton and should make it home tomorrow.

... harvest and the vast number of crates waiting to be filled. We also noted Fiesta Foods a large Hispanic grocer chain doing a booming business. Even down south we don't have these stores. We crossed the Columbia River into Oregon and were impressed with the beautiful ranching areas. We finally ended up at Pendleton a delightful old west type town from the early 19th century that had quite a lot of industrial plants including its 1909 woolen mill.

... SLOWLY passing us in the left lane, and sure enough there was a cop hiding in the median who pulled that pickup right over. They must make a lot of money on tickets in this state.

Some of our favorite places to stay so far on the trip have been state parks, so we decided to make an effort to find a few on our return trip, and Oregon has some good ones.
