    ... over a board walk through a wetland, and arrived at a lake with herons standing at the other side. We also saw a swimming turtle. We've been seeing lots of unrecognized birds, and Rick's bird list gets ever more descriptive: 'milk chocolate coloured bird' was a recent one, and 'speckled-collared dove' another.     ... full day tour that went on from the pandas to the Leshan Giant Buddha, but I think we needed the lovely relaxing afternoon we had anyway. To start with we tried to go to Jinli Pedestrian Street, but it was so busy that you couldn't move so we went back to Kuanzhai Xiangxi where we bought panda memorabilia (I bought a rucksack!) and found a crafty cafe where Ellie, Bekah and I decorated panda jars whilst Naima made bracelets.     ... were 8 pandas eating bamboo shoots and they were so cute you wished you could hug them and have them as pets. In other enclosures we saw other pandas, some climbing trees and resting on the branches. We also saw red pandas, which were not of the same family as the giant panda in spite of the name.

    ... s been wonderful getting to know them and learning about university student life in China. As to what they think of us Americans, I guess we will have to learn some Chinese and read their blogs!

    More to come as we finish out the week. Our schedule is quite full but we're hoping to fit in a little more sightseeing and/or shopping on Friday, and have more dinners planned for the remaining evenings.
