... legs were on speed because it had no gears to speak of. After 10 minutes we were sweating and swearing like pigs and regretted parting with our $17!

Mum and Dad arrived in Toronto in the middle of June and I spent the week that they were here showing them the sights of Toronto.
The first Sunday was Fathers Day here in Canada so we took advantage of the car that we had hired and drove to Scarborough which is on the lake about half an hours drive away. We walked around the marina there and onto the beach where the life guards were watching over the swimmers brave enough to swim in the icy water! We had lunch at a cafe ...

... and walked through to Union Station, via the Air Canada Centre, which is home to the Toronto Raptors (basketball) and the Maple Leafs (ice hockey). It's quite strange to walk through people's office buildings directly from a concourse area of a sports stadium but it's a great innovation to allow people to move around. Apparently it's just as heavily used in the summer when the temperature hits 35°C and is very humid!

... and another team playing what I assumed was a roster match, maybe even a playoff in their league? There were four indoor rinks in the centre plus outdoor sports grounds. An impressive facility. Mike returned from the cottage early afternoon and we had a very nice BBQ dinner of steak and shrimps to finish off the day.
