    We are just beginning to pack and prepare for the trip. We've been talking about it for so long, and now it's just days away. I can't believe it is finally here! We have lots to get ready, but soon we'll be on our way, with literally nothing more than the clothes on our backs. The thought is so freeing.

    Bumpy road and bayou

    We left the house this morning and went 3 miles and pulled over to fix the bicycle cover. Stopped at a rest area on I 75 and fixed the front wheel well cover, the bolts sheared and I put new bolts in to repair. Stopped for lunch and then finished the day at the welcome center in Alabama. The brake buddy for the car braking system burned up, so that's capute. On to New Orleans tomorrow. First day out so far so ...

    ... got it figured out. It appears that it was quite humid last night and the system was on low, which means we only have half of the cooling power. I reset the system and put it on high and ice cold air came out. Hallelujah!

    We were informed at the visitor’s center that Castle Windy Trail would be the perfect place for wildlife viewing. It is overgrown and amazing. One of our many Armadillo sightings is captured in a photo near the entrance to the trail. The trail brochure has numbered stops explaining the flora.
