... found a KOA along highway 12 that is about 38 miles from Fairfield, a place we planned to stop during our trip here. More on that tomorrow. We pulled, paid the camping fee for one night and set up our campsite. The sites were absolutely beautiful with large mature trees, acres of green grass and several amenities that I'm sure other families love - like a swimming pool, playground, fishing, etc. We were mainly interested...and found the internet ...

... to their deaths. It was a humbling experience looking over the edge and almost scary. Along with the shear beauty the point afforded a great view of Half Dome and Glacier Point as well as the entire valley.

We stayed and chatted with a few people, took pictures, and then headed down the long and winding path back to our car. We ended up running near the end and we reached the bottom in about an hour an a half! It was great to finally be done ...

Two hours of wandering cobbled streets, time warped between the boardwalk days of then and now; strollers packed with little ones and shopping bags; kids hypered up on lollipops; couples hand by hand; music in the park. ... be a light snack of sandwiches - how wrong we were - as these mammoth sized hunks of food were placed on our table (and Sam's bread was actually fried...!) Despite the menu claiming my sandwich had 'thin cut ham' it soon became apparent that they had used an entire family-sized pack to complete my order.. Needless to say we are both on diets now as we have scoffed some serious calories on our way up the coast!
