wasn't somewhere we wanted to stay overnight. So we headed to Fresno
and then stopped at a Pilot Truck Stop in Madera, just outside of
Fresno. It was chock full of trucks and we ended up parking on the

... the fish they serve is actually not fresh from the sea as you would think so it put us off a bit. There is a sea lion colony next to Pier 39 and we are kicking ourselves as we forgot to go and find them when we were there. I think it was because we were distracted by our first sighting of Alcatraz and then an awesome crab sculpture.

Next on the agenda was Coit Tower. We climbed the Filbert steps up Telegraph Hill to it ...

... br> We left early so we could cut through Death Valley but to get there we pretty much had to go to LA then around the long way. Each stop for fuel etc strange men would open doors for me and it didn't matter about skin tone as I had it all. I think their mother's did a great job on them.

Much later in the desert we came to a servo. I went in laughing about how I was going to be attacked etc as it was a strange joint. I was gone for awhile as ...
