      Bad hotel -pass by it

      from

in july 2005 we booked 4 nights for a ocean front that slept 6. when we arrived our ocean front was given to some one else. we tryed to cancel at that time but was told they needed 24 hours notice,we gave it. we had to rent a extra room at 100.00 a night that was awful . not cleaned good, smelled awful . beds were awful. and there was no parking except on the side of the street.the staff was unpleasent. we left as soon as our 2 nights were up. will never book there again. stay away from this hotel.

Location, location - otherwise basic stuff

      from

Stayed here for Pepsi 400 NASCAR weekend, the location is great, but this place is nothing more than a room and a decent pool, don't get your hopes up too high. The overall condition of the facility is basic, very basic. The beds are horribly uncomfortable, the rooms are typical beach motel rooms, nothing fancy and well worn. There are no frills with this place. I would stay somewhere else if I went back, now that I know that there are several other hotel options in the area.

      Dont stay here

      from

My fiance and i booked an oceanview room here. We arrive at the hotel everything seems fine. We get our key and start to our room when i realize our room is across the parking lot on the 3rd floor not even close to the ocean and only can see it if we open the front door and look over top the other building. i go back and tell him that we have an oceanview reservation ... here is his quote to me, "oceanview and oceanfront our different things, the room you have you can see the ocean therfore its oceanview......" I was pissed and asked for a manager. just happens that he claims the manager is out of town this week and has noway to contact them . YEAH RIGHT!!! this was bull crap anyway since the hotel was almost empty but he refused to do anything about it. We took the room so we could just get settled. We stayed there 3 nights, never once did they clean the room. i had to go down to the office 2 times to get fresh towels. The pool looked nice from far but when u get closer it was disgusting and filled with bird crap. Also the beach is a mess and all the hotels are torn up. most the stores are boarded up and closed. The boardwalk is all closed up. NO reason to even go there unless some special event is going on.

      Great Location/Great price!!

      from

We stayed last December for a week, and couldn't have been happier. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms were kept clean. Our room was an efficiency right on the beach, so a trip to the local seafood market, and we were cooking scallops on the grill to the sound of the waves!!

Close to everything you need, even grocery stores and shops.

Hope to stay there every year! Can't beat the price for the value!

      A really good hotel

      from

A really good motel, right on the beach with a good pool and area. The bar next door is great with a good food menu.

Daytona has had some devistation due to the hurricanes but it was still a good visit.

      WONDERFUL HOTEL!!!!

      from

We stayed at this hotel in July. We were happily suprised by the quality of this hotel. It is right on the ocean, with direct access to the NO DRIVING zone beach!! The pool was awesome also. Great rooms that look out onto the beach. We stayed in a room that looked out to the parking lot, but from almost all the rooms, you can see the ocean and the pool. Our room was very clean, with a full sized fridge, oven, dishes. Air conditioner worked fine. I would stay at a Super 8 anytime!!!! Thank you Super 8!!! This was our favorite hotel of our Florida vacation(also stayed at Ramada, Holiday Inn).

      Great room great price

      from

me and a few of my friends stayed at the super 8 last year for spring break. my best friend called and reserved the room several weeks in advance. very affordable! considering it was spring break, we expected the room to be trashed and far from the ocean. well, we were wrong! the room was right on the oceanfront. we stepped out of our door and took about 10 steps and we were on the beach. it was great. also, right next door is an awesome beach club/bar, another plus! our room was spotless(until we got settled in) and everything in it was in great condition. it really made for an unforgettable spring break! and guess what?!? spring break is in two weeks and we made sure to call ahead and reserve the exact same room. i would highly recomend this motel for any spring breakers tryin to have a good time!

      This place was GREAT

      from

After checking out of motel hell next door, we checked into the Super 8 on Ocean Avenue. For $69.00 we got an ocean front room with two double beds, refrigerator, microwave and private balcony, during race week.

The room was spotless and the entire property was well cared for. Great location, witn an oceanfront swimming pool. We highly recommend it.

      PRICE GAUGING AT ITS BEST!

      from

What a horrible business practice! This hotel jacked the price up on me from 139.00 to 375.00 a night on a night that had no "Special Event" status! I understand they raise the rates for the days that DO fall under these guidelines but to almost triple the cost? It was an expensive lesson learned by me and it will be the LAST time I stay at this chain of hotels for any reason! I will buy a tent first!

      Not a good place

      from

I traveled to Daytona Beach from NY with my mom...I booked this motel online. I have stayed at other Super8's and was pleased so I decided to try this one. I called the motel 2 days before my arrival to confirm everything. The person that answered the phone did NOt say Hello Super8 , they answered it like a private home...They seemed unsure but confirmed my reservations and that I was going to get a second floor oceanfront room with kitchen unit. Upon arrival at the hotel I discovered that it was under MAJOR renovations. the oceanfront rooms were NOT rentable. I asked why I was not told of this and the man told me " The whole hotel is not under renovation you can see the ocean from your room, If I told everyone we were under renovation nobody would want to come" I was tired so I took the room he offered it was a smoking room and was dirty smelly and the bedspreads had holes .. the pillows were flat , dust bunnies were around and worst of all NO kitchen only a tiny fridge and a microwave..The word that best discribed my room was EEWWW! the owners live in the hotel in a room right behind the front desk ... when the blinds were up you could see all there stuff (junk) pilled up on tables and couches. They are also the hotel employees and only skim clean the rooms. I have stayed a other super8's and they were NOT like this! Oh and at night they turn out all the lights in the parking lot and stairwells and my door did not lock properly and homeless people were sleeping and hanging out on the pool area at night ...after 1 night I went else where ... STAY AWAY

... about 10 years ago. Cool.
Wed. Night we reconnected with Caroll Brown, an Irish balladeer who lives in the low country and plays in the local Irish pub. He played a few requests and we bought 2 of his CDs which we enjoyed on the drive Thursday to Daytona. There we met up with Gary and Kerry and spent the weekend with them at the races. I won't write about them again, go see last years blog if you want the details. I will be ...

Each time we go for a walk we see something new, it is the best.
Today it is cooler and cloudy but better than back home so I am not complaining.

... can drive on the beach down here between 2 signs - crazy.
There was some kind of competition with the seadoo kind of machines. The weather is nice, but the wind makes it cooler than you would think.
So glad to be in one spot for a week, then we move to our second spot. ...

      ... a handy dandy mat!

We had to set up in the rain and our planned bbq ended up being a pan fry. Of course that got the fire alarm going so that battery was removed! Oh well! We'll put it back before we head out again. :-)

We're staying over for the day to do some more laundry, do some cleanup and just rest. We head to Miami ...

... he was. I don’t think he was cold at all because he was just filled with joy. When it started to really get dark we got back in the van and drove a little more. Night driving isn’t too much of an issue here because everything is so built up. We drove through Daytona beach which is pretty much just another tourist attraction filled with tempting restaurants. Finally Chris was tired and ready to stop so we found a quiet Wal-Mart to park for the ...
