... alas, still no car was hired. Tour was interesting enough. The whole open-air experience got a bit tiring after the first hour. I really don't understand people with convertibles. How is this enjoyable? Saw some interesting v-shaped razor spikes hidden under a hedge on Bruno Mars' fence. Insert pun about Locked Out of Heaven here. ... by the pool with a JD & Bundy and just about to head out for dinner. Tomorrow we'll be heading down to Venice Beach (where 9 people were hit by lightning this afternoon) then up to Santa Monica and onto Hollywood.

Day 3: Six Flags Magic Mountain
Day 3 was hot (as per usual, at 30 + degrees C) - which was somewhat to be expected, considering it rains something like 25 times in a year. We spent the day at Six Flags, a rollercoaster park outside of the city.
The best rides were the X2 (where the seats rotate 360 degrees on their axis and you ride backwards), the Tatsu (seats were rotated 90 degrees forward so ...
... Venice Beach who grab their beer bottles from the side in between flips without missing a beat, it's like the people here are from another planet. A hip-hop artist with an amazing dialect (think the Jive dudes from Airplane) tried to sell us his CD, unaware that we were almost certainly the least cool people in a ten-mile radius.

... After having a very pleasant few days with the Weavers we were on the road again this time heading west towards the Blue Mountains where we did the challenging but very scenic National Pass. The walk takes you of a circular trail past Wentworth Falls, descending you down steep stone stair cases with vertical drop offs to the depths of the gorge below.
