... All of the flower stems are put into tiny test tubes (just like those used by florists), except these test tubes are not filled with water but with 7-Up. We're guessing that the sugar helps keep the flowers fresher than just water would. The tubes are then inserted into the floats' patterns. I've been too busy to blog. We've done lots of stuff in and around the city of Los Angeles. Our first night in LA started off pretty rough. We got to our hostel at 10 pm and they told us they overbooked so we have no beds. So after arguing with them for an hour about prices and what not, we ended up sharing two beds and losing the deposit I put on the beds. Long story. Ask me sometime. There was a rumor about bed bugs, ...
... Hollywood sign. We also went to the Death Museum, listed as one of the best unusual museums to visit in LA. It was a truly revolting way to pass a few hours.
And that was it - 5 days was not nearly long enough especially when I managed to waste 2 of them. We will definitely go back to LA so that we can do it justice as we loved everything about it from the perfect weather to the friendly people. And after 5 months of South American food, the food was awesome! ...

As I mentioned, the sheer enormity of the country makes travelling distances between cities an important consideration, even more so than Australia. In Europe, we were 3 - 4 hours away from just about anywhere, so if we needed to back track, it wasn't a major issue.
The plan thus far is to eventually get a flight from here to New Orleans and probably a car ...
