      ... was in order. Big day. Woke to a fine but cooler morning. Sightseeing on the agenda today. Our first stop was FDR's house at Hyde Park. We saw a short film & then took a tour of the house. Really interesting & now have to go home & read up on him. Sounds like an American Gough Whitlam & the whole Polio/never being seen in a wheelchair thing is so unbelievable.       ... was only 5.30pm so we'd be fine. And we were but I wouldn't do it again. Once we'd checked into the hotel, we walked 2 blocks up the road to get some takeaway for dinner & that didn't feel great either. Very deserted even though an enormous government building was across the road from the restaurant. On the upside, the hotel room was great, big with twin double beds, free wi fi & breakfast included.       I think everyone on our tour was also rather dismayed when Eleanor's room was pointed out. Since Franklin's mother lived in the family home, Eleanor was not the woman in charge.
