... turn and no exits for 12 miles. Finally found a truck stop, Fray asked for help, we found a shortcut but it took 1.5hrs to get home & it was completely dark & raining the whole way. Sooo stressful. Took the shine off an otherwise great day. Didn't feel like driving anymore so walked to dinner at the Italian restaurant next door again. The photos on Insta show the ridiculous pizza we got (thought sharing a meal would reduce the waste). Wine ...

... people, such as Winston Churchill, were guests here and I think the tour guide said that he may have stayed in the pink room.

I think everyone on our tour was also rather dismayed when Eleanor's room was pointed out. Since Franklin's mother lived in the family home, Eleanor was not the woman in charge. And when Franklin's manservant was given the room adjoining Franklin's, Eleanor got another little room. This part confused me because ...

After yesterday's meandering, today was more planned - necessary for such a big place! But first, coffee! Urban Spoon guided me to a funky local cafe in Long Island City called LIC Market. Good value, groovy setting and a decent coffee. The plan for the day was to find some Fitzroy groove in NYC, so I headed to the west side, Chelsea, Greenwich Village and the Meatpacking ...
