      ... hotel but not in the car.

      On to Erie in Pennsylvania. There does not appear to be any indicators when we cross a state border. Went up a tower on the water front to have a view over Presque Island and Lake Erie. We could see a large ship on the horizon.

      Staying in another Comfort Inn. They are clean, reasonably priced and include breakfast. Had dinner at a steak and seafood place called Joe Roots.

      It did rain again last night but it cleared up before we awoke. We went to breakfast and then to a grocery store for a few things we needed. The Walmart we parked at was a 24 hour store but it was dead! There was, however, a large grocery store about a block away was called Meijer that was packed! We decided to check it out.       ... you read a certain number of books over a four-year period -- awards a "degree" and the opportunity to participate in a commencement ceremony. Very ornate and very, very traditional.
