      ... that someday my children and grand-children will be able to see it. There is something about this country that is mesmerizing, and Mike and I both said that if we had come out here as young people, we probably would never had gone back to Ohio.

      We saw a few mule deer on our ride and they say there are black bear in the area, although we didn’t see any yet. The garbage cans in the campground are bearproof, so we may see some yet.

The thought of skipping 4 days of biking through farmland, drinking muddy water, and getting into the canyon was irresistible. We loaded up and took off.
