    ... What they fail to mention is that the water is alpine water and is FREEZING cold. Melanie and I tried but there was no way. My feet were numb after wading in for about 30 seconds. There was one hardy young fellow who jumped in from a ledge off a cliff but he came up gasping and very quickly swam to shore. I give him full credit because if I had just jumped in, I think I would have either passed out or my heart would have stopped.

    ... enough and we all pile back into the Dodge yet again. All is going smoothly until we hit the highway. Apparently our magnanimous wives didn’t realise that the electronics shop is about twenty minutes down the road in Nanaimo. OK, we’ll be really quick, then beach - here we come.

    ... to be expanding quite a bit, but unlike Toronto, it can't 'balloon' out, it just continues to stretch along the coast line. Its hard to expand when you have coastline on one side and mountains on the other.
    We'll continue to head across the coastline towards Qualicum Beach, its still raining by the way.
