    ... What they fail to mention is that the water is alpine water and is FREEZING cold. Melanie and I tried but there was no way. My feet were numb after wading in for about 30 seconds. There was one hardy young fellow who jumped in from a ledge off a cliff but he came up gasping and very quickly swam to shore. I give him full credit because if I had just jumped in, I think I would have either passed out or my heart would have stopped.

    After a quick stop at Walmart to buy some snowboots and pants for the kids, we headed north to Vancouver Island's snow field, Mt Washington.
