... What they fail to mention is that the water is alpine water and is FREEZING cold. Melanie and I tried but there was no way. My feet were numb after wading in for about 30 seconds. There was one hardy young fellow who jumped in from a ledge off a cliff but he came up gasping and very quickly swam to shore. We make a couple of unplanned stops in addition to the promised boy’s toys shop but, hey, we’re on ...

... 8217;s a Tim Horton’s on just about every other corner here, the Canadian version of a cross between Starbucks and Dunkin’ donuts. But for CA$5.90 4 yummy donuts and two cups of fresh, hot coffee, it was just right.

For lunch we ate at a restaurant called ‘White Spot’ (another Canadian chain restaurant) and when it started getting dark (at about 4pm) we drove about 20 minutes south to Ladysmith, which is well known ...

... the first time seeing the sea in over two and a half years - strolling past shops and a marina. Highlight was the jetty where locals were crabbing and fishing. A retired couple - who had lived in Edmonton a while back - fed us plenty of information about the town they love, and the sea creatures which came up with in their trap (a starfish, and Red Rock and Dungeness crabs) and what was going into their cooking pot.
