Another beautiful drive today to Ottawa, only two hours, got into Ottawa about 10.30. Hit the ground running, had a free hour then had a two hour tour then another couple of hours free to roam. Great guide today, went into the Museum of History, only had a short time, would love a day, fascinating. We were fortunate to come upon a ceremony and parade for all emergency workers, was just the best, bag pipes etc. was on the site of the seat of Parliament. What amazing buildings ...

... sun. Oh, and feed me because it's my supper time!" As our journey comes to a close, we have been talking about some of our highlights. But there are so many it is hard to pick the best ones. We are thankful that we didn't have any crazy hiking experience like we did in Gaspe last year (see last year's Gaspe Road Trip blog, August 3rd for a refresher). Our best hike was the Skerwink (or "Skerwinkle," as Debbie calls it) Trail; even though it was a challenge for her, she said ...

... kids hear us say "I can't believe you are only kids and doing this for the first time. It took us until being in our 40s to experience the same things". It was so much fun seeing the joy it brought them to experience such a variety of first-time experiences.

We have excellent kids. Yes they fought and argued at times but overall they were very good, kind, and helpful along the way. They were such troopers. Packing up and changing ...

Empty Mind, Blank Stare: Early Departure

A travel blog entry by lerouxly on May 15, 2015

Our flight out of Ottawa is at 6:00 am.  Need to get to the airport Park n' Fly by 4:45 am.  This will add approximately $142 to the cost of the trip.  I'm not fond of taxis and one would cost approximately $60 one-way because I live in a rural area.  I don't Uber.  Not at this point: Too new.  And that was my justification for Park n' Fly. My experience with Park n' Fly so far has been ...

We left Fallingwater in silence, lost in our thoughts. We are on our way home and with this in mind we are horses heading toward the barn, anxious to get there.

We managed to stop in time for lunch/breakfast and give the Granatas the Cracker Barrel experience. I love their french toast and even though their maple syrup, served warmed, comes from Vermont, it is delicious. Robert had the "big" breakfast and tried a couple of new things, like biscuits and gravy. I think he liked ...
