... public beach access points. We choose the Gulf State Park with a long pier jutting out into the ocean. We had to pay $3.00 a person for the privilege of walking out on the pier and peering back at land. (they get you coming and going nowadays!) But, the pelicans we meet on the way make the entry fee bearable. We end the sunny, breezy and warm day at "the beach" with a grown up drink (Pina Colada for me) at a beach bar named the Pink ...

The final leg of our trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama started with a misty Monday morning. We headed out from Livingston about 9:30 a.m. with thoughts of settling in for a month when we arrived. It made me happy to think that I wasn't going to be a vagabond for a whole month! I would be able to unpack my overnight bag that held my health and beauty aids because I was not going anywhere for 30 days! It felt good.

... The wooden boardwalk has been replaced by a concrete path that runs right along the coast. A lot of the houses have been reconstructed, this time they are up on high piers. A safeguard of any more hurricanes that will no doubt one day happen.

A quick trip through Mississippi and we were now entering Alabama where we were to stay for two nights before heading into Florida for the weekend to see our lovely young friend get married.

A little warmer today. Hope to plop a chair down on the beach this afternoon. Getting some things ready for traveling tomorrow. Did a little RV cleaning, took a drive to the Flora-Bama to see what it was, had a beer on the deck then found a beach (finally) to relax and it was super windy and chilly so not much relaxin' happened. Sun was warm and the sound of the waves nice...but we should have brought our coats! Oh well...it is ...
