On a Sunday morning, May 18, 1980, Mount St Helens erupted, causing the largest landslide in recorded history. Winds of hurricane force, fire, heat, and debris swept down the Toutle River Valley and left a barren, gray landscape behind. After 32 years, the landscape is turning green again with bright wildflowers growing in the ash and mud and seedlings are reaching up as the area slowly recovers over time.
... their walk and we looked at their photos until everyone was ready to head back to camp. We spent the evening having dinner and chilling by the campfire, as per usual....Laura's getting really good at starting and tending the fire, so I think this is her unofficial job haha. We're heading into Olympic National Park tomorrow, which should be amazing...it's the only temperate rainforest in the world...I think our sunny days might be over, and it might be time to get our rain jackets out! On the road again….. Yes, today began the third leg of our four part journey. We began today by using the truck wash at the RV park to wash the camper. It was really cool with sliding platforms and soap producing brushes. Tommy and Clay were able to wash the entire camper in less than 10 minutes.
Our next stop was about 30 minutes away where we picked up Holly from the kennel where she stayed during our Alaska trip. You have never seen four more excited people ...
Today, we left the RV Park on the way to pick up Holly, but not before we washed the camper up and down. We then journeyed further towards the border, picked her up and then shortly after crossed the border. After we crossed the border, we went to the Boeing factory and got to see them make three of their best planes. It was very cool!!
