Florida Finally

Made it from Fairfield North Carolina to Ocala Florida. Pretty pooped but the hotel has a pool and we stretched out for a bit listening to the cars on the highway roar past. But, we're in shorts and in Florida. Ocala, in the central part of the state boasts the Ocala National Forest and from what we can see not too much else. ... It has a wonderful whistle and was staffed by elves and eventually, at the North Pole, by Santa himself. There was hot cocoa and cookies and Christmas bells from Santa. By the time we returned to the station it was dark enough that Christmas lights were on and it was quite pretty.

Vitas had used the guide that the "Daily Sun" publishes of Villages light displays and said they had never seen anything like it.

... to Americans. For days the stores have been leading up to Black Friday (tomorrow) and the paper this morning had two sections larger than the paper itself full of advertising flyers. I even watched the Macy's Santa Claus parade in New York where it was cold and snowing. This was a first for me I think! The enormous balloon floats were uunbelievable and included Michael's favourite, Thomas the Tank Engine, for the first time.

After Michael experienced his second major meltdown in as many days - this one because there wasn't any more bacon - we head off to Uncle Donald's farm. It was quite a pleasant trip. The temperature was perfect and there were lots of trees to provide shade.
