... Going to the Gulf of Mexico, down Matagorda way. Weather is not so great, light occasional rain with the promise of thunder showers over the next few days. We're biding our time so we can hit the beach on Padre Island later on. We may encounter a few college kids along the way as it's spring break time. If it gets too noisy I'll take out my hearing aids. Matagorda has an interesting history. Cabeza de Vaca explored for Spain in the early 1500s. LaSalle shipwrecked ...

We had two days of bike riding here and spent three nights. I think it was our second day of riding that we saw gators. I had just sent David a text, saying we were hunting for gators, and I looked out on the lake and saw one swimming in. The park really cleared out today with only 3 campers on our loop. ... on Loop 8 East and headed around the city. I drove slower than usual and it seemed to help. The traffic was tolerable and only one car passed me as I pulled over the line into the lane of my choice. I think that the turn signal must have a different effect on a Texan. They seem to think it's like a gunshot starting a race. We missed that car too, or he missed us. Either way, it turned out fine.

We finally turned onto FM1252. FM ...

... of our new tires. Fortunately we were at an exit with the company that sold us the tires, so it was easy and quick. We only lost about 15 minutes travel time. It turned out to be a leaky stem. All seems well at the moment with the tires. The weather is 77 and clear. A little cool, but oh so pleasant. On the road, Eric
