First few days;  At the end of the flight from Sydney, the clouds cleared and could see all of the top of new Zealand from the plane window! It's looks amazing <3.  In the airport, my suitcase was picked out by a sniffer dog and it was searched and xrayed. This wasn't a drugs sniffer dog, mind - he was there to catch fresh fruit being smuggled! They were convinced i was a fruit smuggler lol and but obviously didnt find anything... just wasted 20 mins of ...

Hiya, Fran here today!

On Thursday morning we left cloudy Taupo and decided to try and chase the warm weather up to the Coromandel Peninsular (or as Andy likes to call it, the Pan Handle... He got confused with a story from the Franz Joseph glacier and it's stuck!).

It worked! The weather vastly improved and before we knew it we were singing along to cheesy 80's music, wearing our sunnies and driving through beautiful landscapes once more! ...

... house. Steve and I get the old staff room where Steve draws the short straw and the bed made for a hobbit. After a brief rest we head off to an old alluvial gold mining township called St Bathans  for a well earned beer.
