We left Black Lake today and headed toward Vermont. We didn't make it.
We did, however, drive through the Adirondacks and somehow managed to drive into the bike portion of an Ironman race. No, I mean we drove into it! Imagine how those guys on bikes felt after swimming for 2.4 miles, then trying to ride their bikes for 112 miles, only ...

We had a relaxed morning and then dropped into a historic spot to try a local legendary taste delight for lunch. Anyone who knows Wayne knows he is a hot dog nut. We just had to go and try a Michigan Hot Dog. I had never heard of this but it's legendary in this area.

... three or four bedrooms in addition to a living room with HUGE rock fireplace, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. No electricity, we had kerosene lamps and a two burner kerosene stove. The kitchen porch had an icebox, filled two or three times a week with ice which had been cut out of the lake in the winter and stored in sawdust in the Icehouse for the summer. No hot water, you heated what you needed on the stove- baths were taken in the lake. No telephone, ...

    The border crossing

A travel blog entry by b_btravel on Mar 28, 2014

... border patrol person. Thankfully he was lovely and went through everything with us before happily stamping our passports, taking our border crossing fee and sending us on our way. So that was it, we were in America. Yay! Tonight we are staying in Tupper Lake, a cute little town in New York State. From here we will head across to the east coast of Maine. The first time we have seen the ocean in a while and maybe the first time the temperature does not get below freezing. Maybe... Bec ...
