    ... quit, and just say I've done enough already. That was not a helpful thought to put into my head. But I trudged forward and guess what? Not "brutal." It's not so bad.     ... so I went and knocked on Jean's curtain door. He appeared and we told him the bed broke and that we wouldn't be coming back tonight. He looked like he might've cried.     Today was a good day exploring Vermont. We saw lots of great covered bridges. Designed like this to stop the bridges getting icy and also to preserve their longevity.     We woke this morning to fog and a slight frost. Duff says its the 2nd frost they've had this season. We saw Caleb briefly this morning to say goodbye and then headed off with Jesse and Lin to church. Lin is the organist at the Untied Methodist Church in Bethel where she has been organist for over 40 years. It is a tiny church with the shortest pews I've ever seen.
