... where we camped that night. We had never heard of the castle till chatting with a couple from Phenix Arizona on the bus to Santa Monica, they said its a must do and boy they were right!! The castle story needs to told by me in person and so I won't bother on this app but rest assured its a bloody beauty. It was back to the camp 3 miles away for dinner then beers with a couple from Vancover Island Canada who were lovely and camped next door, then off to bed. What a ...

... point. It's been a very hard week, and seeing his little face walk away from me was crushing.

We stopped for brunch at a great little restaurant called "The Vegan Joint". Phil's burrito wasn't anything spectacular, but Alices "omelette" was quite good!

The drive was nice and sunny, we went along the 101 and up the 1.

We're stopping in at a friends house in Atascadero, ca. I'm sure lots of alcohol will be consumed. Again.

    ... such great hospitality.

Our next stop was Big Sur, but first we got to enjoy the beautiful drive up the Central California Coast. We were fortunate to see this game in a fun funky spot know as Ragged Point. Not only was there live music but a BBQ to boot.

... walked along the shore to fish. Abby followed him and Scrappy and I stayed near the canoe. I read the Bible and lounged in the sun. Dave walked all the way around until he was across from me. I heard him say, “Abby’s coming back to you,” but I didn’t realize he meant she was swimming across the cove to me! Crazy pup. It makes both of us happy when she shows some youthfulness since she turned 12 this month! She got out and shook off right beside me. ...

    Avila Beach KOA

A travel blog entry by dolestrada on Aug 26, 2013

Our drive from Oroville, Ca. to Avila Beach, Ca. took about 61/2 hours. We are not on the beach but it is a short drive to the beach from our KOA campground. The campground is small and campsites are a little tight. there is no grass in the campsites. They have a nice pool and spa and small store. We got settled in, made a late lunch then took a drive out to the beach. On the way to the beach we stop at a small market and petting farm along the road. It is very cool, ...
